Our Outdoor Spaces
Our outdoor area is a space for preschool to explore, move and investigate. Our outdoor area is designed to support the areas of learning such as physical development, expressive arts and design and understanding the world.
Sandtray
We open our sand tray out daily for preschool to explore. The sand tray encourages digging, building and working together to create structures and explore textures and to develop early maths and science skills.
Outdoor tuff tray
We change our outdoor tuff tray termly depending on the topic we are learning about and children's interests.
Water tray
Our water tray is set out daily for children to explore. This encourages children to explore emptying and filling up containers, explore different ways water flows such as through guttering. We also explore floating and sinking objects.
Outdoor mark making
We have our own outdoor mark making area. This encourages our children to use different mark making resources to create marks outdoor, such as chalks, paints, pens and paper and glue.
Outdoor construction area
We have our very own construction area outdoors as well as indoors. Our construction area encourages children to work together to use different materials to create different arrangements.
Outdoor mark‑making area
Our whiteboard and blackboard provide opportunities for children to draw, write and express ideas outdoors. Mark‑making in the fresh air supports early writing skills in a fun, relaxed way.
